Don’t worry, bikers: use Spinaci!
The Italian Cycling Federation - with document
n°33 - 16th April 1998 - decided:
" DUE TO THE TECHNOLOGICAL EVOLUTION ... WE
CAN PERMIT THE USE OF SPINACI IN ALL THE AMATEUR HAPPENINGS WHERE
IT IS NOT INVOLVED AN INTERNATIONAL JURY."
Since 1998, the use of Spinaci extensions is not
permitted during the international road competitions, ruled by UCI.
The reason is their presumed negative effects to the quick access
to brake levers during critical situations. Cinelli asked to the
Bioengineering Department - Faculty of Engineering - University
of Milan to study the effects of different
handlebar hand postures on fast brake lever reaching movements in
cycling. The underlying assumption motivating the study is that
riding postures providing quick access to brake levers allow the
athletes to more easily manage the braking operation, when he is
forced to suddenly decrease bicycle speed or change direction for
avoiding an unexpected obstacle.
Use Spinaci and cycle until you can!
It is not an order, it is a suggestion.
